Moira (Moira Muñoz) is an electronic musician, producer and synthesist based in Madrid. A self-described “synth maniac”, she has spent more than a decade building a sonic universe created entirely with hardware: vintage synthesisers, modified drum machines and circuit-bent devices, with no computer involved.

Her work occupies the space between organic electronica and industrial noise. As a solo artist, she released the EP moira through Contubernio Records in 2015: two tracks driven by the principle of leaving nothing behind for the worms—giving everything in every live performance.

Alongside her solo work, she leads the noise and industrial project Ruido y Tortura with Santi “Plagio”, co-founder of Contubernio Records. Active since 2014, the project’s releases include un triste ejemplo de edición extrema (2014), the collaboration with pt-uno Vomitando mariposas muertas (2014), a split release with Grassa Dato (2015), and the track Hijos de Túpac Amaru, featured on the compilation Peripherik MMXVII (2017). All were released by Madrid-based Contubernio Records, a key presence in Spain’s industrial and minimal electronic music scene since 2006.

Beyond her work as a musician, Moira was one half of Doctor Synth, a Madrid workshop specialising in the repair and modification of vintage synthesisers and drum machines. This technical expertise is central to her live performances. At Berlin’s Superbooth festival in 2017 and 2018, she presented a hardware set featuring the Yamaha reface CS, reface DX and MOXF6, alongside RX21 and RX17 drum machines she had personally modified through circuit bending. Yamaha later featured these performances in its Behind the Synth series.

Moira plays only a handful of dates and records sparingly: her discography reflects the weight of craftsmanship rather than prolific output. In 2026, after more than ten years of “making noise”, she began recovering older recordings from her archive and releasing them on Bandcamp—with the promise that the story will continue.
